Blazenko Lackovic has not been an original HSV player since the beginning of his career, but he joined different teams before joining HSV in 2008. He began his senior year as a handball player in 1997 in RK Vartek Di Caprio, then in Badel 1862 Zagreb, and SG Flensburg-Handewitt. During his past years in those clubs, he received different medals, including the gold medal in the Olympic games.
He joined HSV in a left-back position. During his career at HSV, he won the championship title in the 2012-2013 season. Although he won the title with HSV six years later, he signed with RK Vardar Skopje in 2014.

After he left HSV, he continued his career as a handball player. Ilija Brozovic and Domagoj Duvnjak signed with RK Vandar Skopje two years later, signing with THW Kiel in 2016 along with players from the national team, Ilija Brozovic and Domagoj Duvnjak. However, he returned with HSV again in 2017.
In 2020, he ended his career as a handball player, but still works in the same field. He will continue his career as an assistant coach at HSV for next season starting from 26th December. He works as an assistant at HSV for head coach Torsten Jansen and plans to return as a player again after at least five weeks.
